Welcome to my website!
I am India Robertson. I am the mother of three daughters and I teach English Language arts for secondary students.
Language arts for Tomorrow means two things: first language arts for students use in their future such as college preparation, and second Connecting to student who live in a digital world that is always changing and growing. Below is a picture of the oldest and youngest generation of my family. My grandmother is 90 years old in two weeks. My daughter is 7 months old. My grandmother learns so much from watching the younger generations and all the advances in technology. My daughter, though a baby is growing and learning language and how it works. We all have to learn language! we learn how to communicate before we know what it even means to communicate and as we get older we will all learn the mechanics or language and how to apply it in many different useful creative ways. as a young girl I never thought I would use my love for language arts to create a blog but here I am!

Behind My Door
My class is a literature-based integrated language arts program. We will use a variety of text to fine tune the students understanding of different genres while still incorporating the basics in reading, writing, grammar, usage, mechanics, spelling, vocabulary, critical thinking, and listening. The class will often be used as a “workshop” so students can use the writing process in order to produce finished pieces. We will focus on prewriting, drafting, and peer sharing/reviews, revising, editing, and publishing pieces. We will introduce tools for increasing student’s grammar and vocabulary. Students are required to keep journals for self-reflection that are not collected or graded, however there is time set to write in their journals and a few journal entries will be graded as listed in
syllabus.
As this is a class for high school juniors and seniors. To assist students with the transition to college we will focus on abstract thought and formal operational thinking. Students will be asked to discuss literature and determining various meanings they find in texts. Students will participate in discussions and informal debates about literature and language.
Teachers Change Students Life Forever
Ms. Robertson in the Third grade with Ms. Ritz. Third grade was my first experiance with Language arts and creative writing. I developed a love for language as a student of Ms. Ritz. I'm in the front row right in the middle. I am friends with 8 of these kids on facebook today.
Ms. Ritz was a creative, young ambotious teacher who did things like build a store in class with empty fodd boxes to teach us math, science and language arts in a fun way. those little things i have never forgotten. She told me i was different and encouraged me. I will never forget her for her efforts.
Who would i be if it were not for this teacher. I honestly cant say because i have always had self esteem and parental motivation but having someone who does not know me come and take interest in me the way she did really influenced me.
